Capital Care Kipnes Centre for Veterans in Edmonton

The Kipnes Centre for Veterans in Edmonton, Alberta, was established in 2005 to honour Canadian veterans and provide them with exceptional care. Named after philanthropists Dianne and Irving Kipnes, the centre reflects their commitment to enhancing healthcare and veterans' services. Designed as a long-term care facility, it offers a homelike atmosphere and specialized programs to meet the unique needs of its residents. With 120 beds, the centre prioritizes choice, independence, and dignity, ensuring veterans receive the care and respect they rightfully deserve.

Fundraising Project

The Kipnes Veterans Centre is dedicated to preserving and honouring the legacy of those who have served our country. To deepen this commitment, they are proposing the addition of four annual Veterans commemorative events in conjunction with our longstanding Remembrance Day service. These events will provide meaningful opportunities for younger generations, non-Veteran residents, daycare children, new staff, and community partners to connect with and understand the invaluable sacrifices made by our Veterans. By sharing their stories, the Centre will ensure that the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of both those who served and those who never had the chance to become Veterans remain woven into the very fabric of our community.

To bring this vision to life, they seek to establish a Community Services Coordinator role at Kipnes. This dedicated position will enhance the well-being of our Veterans by fostering meaningful engagement with their families, staff, and volunteers while ensuring the successful implementation of these commemorative programs. To create a lasting impact, this role must be funded for a minimum of five years, allowing the program to take root and flourish.
